However, when the Royal Navy left the harbour in 1889, the yard fell into disrepair and it was not until 1950 that an extensive restoration programme began and the 200-year-old stone building was restored to its former glory and is now a luxury hotel.

J-Class "Endeavour" sailing upwind of the 1930s "Shamrock V" during Antigua Classic Week, 1999. ^^^John Williams, the American owner of the super yacht "Georgia" and the "Ranger" replica, had chartered "Endeavor" to Elizabeth Meyer. With a nearly complete crew of New Zelanders, they had a good competition against "Velsheda" and "Shamrock V", the two other remaining J-Class yachts from the thirties.
