We've added some fantastic material to our site over the last 2 months, including many rare and unique images. Highlights include birds of paradise by Tim Laman, the first photographer to shoot all the species, Chinese wildlife by Xi Zhinong with many rare species from the Tibetan plateau, forest elephants, chimps and lowland gorillas from Central Africa, and dramatic blue whales and humpbacks by Doc White. Other significant new additions are Jurgen Freund's fascinating bat hospital story, urban peregrines by young 2020VISION star Bertie Gregory, gorgeous landscapes and details by Floris van Breugel and wild Bengal tigers by Andrew Parkinson.

 
July and August 2013 Highlights

Our photographers added some great new images to our site during July and August 2013. These included amazing new primate coverage, unique images of wild Siberian tigers, dramatic gannets from Andrew Parkinson, forest elephants from Central Africa and a range of rare species from China, India and Central Asia, plus Eric Baccega's cute black-bellied hamsters!

March and April 2013 Highlights

We added nearly 9000 new images to our site during March and April 2013. You will find a great mix of mammals, plus beautiful birds, amazing amphibians, arresting insects and dramatic landscapes.
 
Nature Picture Library Winners 2013

Once again, Nature Picture Library's photographers enjoyed great success in the major international photography competitions of 2013. Alex Mustard was the overall winner of the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Michel Poinsignon and David Hackel won the main prize in the Melvita Nature Images Awards in France. Andy Rouse won the African Wildlife category of the Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice International Awards. Sergey Gorshkov and Pal Hermansen were category winners in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Ann Toon won the IUCN grant in the Melvita awards for her portfolio on elephant vasectomy. Pal Hermansen won the Fritz Poelking award at GDT for his Car Cemetary portfolio. Adam Burton maintained his superb record of being commended in each year of the Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition. Enrique Lopez Tapia won the Nature category of the Pollux Awards. Fifteen images by NPL photographers were highly commended in the British Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards.
 
October-December 2013 Highlights

Highlights of images uploaded to the site in October - December 2013 included Ben Cranke's penguins in action, Steve Kazlowski's latest polar bear selection and exciting creative work by new contributor Theo Bosboom. We also added great new Scandinavian wildlife coverage, tropical birds (including Harpy eagles in flight and at the nest), quirky colourful frogs and great new macro insect work.
