In the last month we've seen an influx of great landscape images, both British and worldwide. We are also pleased to have rare Russian wildlife from new contributor Valery Maleev, some very cute meerkats and harp seal pups, emperor penguins from Sue Flood's new book, interesting primate behaviour, plus a range of birds, marine life, plant and invertebrate macro shots, not forgetting new pets and farm animals from Klein & Hubert.

The last month has seen a fantastic diversity of images added to our site, including the evocative work of Sandra Bartocha and Werner Bollmann, capturing the light of the Nordic world, Laurie Campbell's Scottish wildilfe and plants, poisonous sea snakes and tree kangaroos from Jurgen Freund, Cyril Ruoso's Namib Desert wild horses, and bold invertebrates from Emmanuele Biggi, Edwiin Giesbers and Robert Thompson, Staffan Widstrand's coverage from New Guinea, Eladio Fernandez's material from Cuba and Haiti, Phil Savoie's Costa Rican wildlife, and a strong range of environmental subjects from specialist Ashley Cooper, plus an engaging set of images on the Thames "swan-upping" tradition.

Nature Picture Library’s photographers were successful in a number of the major photographic competitions of 2018. Neil Aldridge won the Environment Singles category in the World Press Photo competition, as well as portfolio awards at NPPA and Nature Photographer of the Year, Jen Guyton won the Plants and Fungi category of Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Andrew Parkinson and Neil McIntyre were both category winners at the British Wildlife Photography Awards, Andy Rouse and Claudio Contreras both won categories of Nature's Best, Espen Bergersen won the Threatened Nature section of the Nordic Photo Contest, Bence Mate took first prize in the Birds category of Nature Photographer of the Year and Markus Varesvuo was runner-up in the GDT Birds section, while Andres Dominquez won the macro category of the Montphoto competition. This gallery includes all the winners, runners-up and highly commended images.

Some striking new imagery has been added to our site in the last month. We have dramatic new images from Michel Roggo's innovative Freshwater Project, Pal Hermansen's fascinating coverage on Eider ducks in Norway, appealing harvest mice, superbly detailed insect close-ups, graphic aerial shots from Loic Poidevin and strong new material on a range of European bird species.

Highlights of material added to our site in the last month include Mountain gorillas and Bengal tigers, Sperm whales, Giant pandas, Dalmatian pelicans and Naked mole rates, varied coverage from new contributor Lucas Bustamante, avalanches and volcanos, Emanuelle Biggi's Namibian work and Jen Guyton's images from Mozambique.
