She spent 11 years\u00a0working for the BBC Natural\u00a0History Unit in Bristol,\u00a0before going freelance in\u00a02005.\u00a0She was an Associate producer on the award-winning BBC \/ Discovery\u00a0series The Blue Planet, and also more recently worked on\u00a0Planet Earth as a field assistant and photographer, which took her\u00a0as far afield as the Arctic, the Antarctic and the South Pacific.\u00a0Sue has also produced three films for the BBC including Polar Bears\u00a0on Thin Ice and also a Killer Whale Special for the BBC\/Discovery\u00a0Channel. From one chapter to the\u00a0next, her adventures uncover her fervour\u00a0to tell the stories of life through the lens of a\u00a0camera; her passion became stories of animals, their relationships to humans,\u00a0and their own world.\u00a0For nine years, as the Senior picture editor for National Geographic Kids magazine,\u00a0Karine learned all she could about good storytelling and the\u00a0makings of a &#8216;good picture&#8217;. In 2011 she ventured outside the office walls to a\u00a0life of freelance photography and picture editing.\u00a0Karine leads photographic tours across the globe to cool places like the Galapagos\u00a0and Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Karine is an associate fellow with the International League of Conservation Photographers\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/conservationphotographers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iLCP<\/a>) and a member of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanpa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NANPA<\/a>. Her work has been\u00a0featured in National Geographic Magazine,\u00a0GEOLino, Nature Conservancy\u00a0Magazine, and BBC Wildlife to name\u00a0a few. Karine lives in Washington, DC. Her father\u00a0introduced her to photography at a\u00a0young age &#8211; he worked as a photographer\u00a0and would take her with him\u00a0on shoots.\u00a0She photographs local landscapes and\u00a0nature, in particular coastlines, forest scenes and flowers. The beauty of nature and the beauty of natural light is a great source of inspiration\u00a0to Sandra. She tries to photograph nature in an artistic way rather than\u00a0trying to document it, focusing on details, light, colours and moods and using\u00a0creative camera techniques to capture the beauty of a scene in the best way.\u00a0Her pictures have been published\u00a0in European magazines,\u00a0books and calendars, and she has\u00a0received prizes in numerous international\u00a0competitions \u2013 including\u00a0the Wildlife Photographer of the\u00a0Year.\u00a0She\u00a0was one of the photographic team\u00a0on the pan-European Wild Wonders\u00a0of Europe initiative.
