May 22 has been declared International Day for Biodiversity by the United Nations<\/a>. This year’s theme is food and health. In the words of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, “From individual species through entire ecosystems, biological diversity is vital for human health and well-being. The quality of the water we drink, the food we eat and the air we breathe all depend on keeping the natural world in good health.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our Planet Galleries<\/h3>\n

The recent ground-breaking series Our Planet<\/em><\/a>, a collaboration between Netflix, Silverback Films and WWF, narrated by David Attenborough, focused on many of the same issues. To celebrate the biodiversity of our planet on International Day for Biodiversity and to highlight the threats faced by the Earth’s ecosystems, we have created a new Our Planet gallery section<\/a>. This contains a separate gallery for each of the seven main ecosystems covered in the series – Forests<\/a>, Jungles<\/a>, Freshwater<\/a>, Polar Regions<\/a>, Grassland and Deserts,<\/a> Coastal Seas<\/a> and Oceans.<\/a><\/p>\n
