Dietmar Nill has always been interested in nature and aged 18 he started photography. His special interest is photographing bats and birds of prey, especially in flight. He enjoys trying to capture those moments in their lives that might not otherwise be noticed. Dietmar has been professional for 10 years and is one of Germany's most successful nature photographers. He has won numerous prizes in international competitions and his work has been widely published. He provided photos for a book on all the species of European bats.
For the Wild Wonders of Europe project, Dietmar travelled to the Nikopol area of Bulgaria to photograph birds and Meheley's horseshoe bats.
^Bulgaria offers nature still relatively untouched by man, a diversity of species and large populations
