Charred remains of Common gorse (Ulex europaeus) bushes and Silver birch (Betula pendula) tree at the edge of a 5 hectare patch of heathland badly burnt by a major fire, likely caused by a disposable barbecue found at an unauthorised camp after a long, hot, dry period with record high temperatures above 35C, the driest summer in Southern England since 1935, Studland Heath, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, UK. 19th August 2022.
